Marilyn Denetta Hill, a talented writer and devoted Christian, has a unique story that combines a love for creativity, ministry, and empowerment. Though currently unemployed, Marilyn spent 14 1/2 years as an Administrative Assistant at MHMRTC and has since transitioned into a thriving career as a Christian fiction author.
A GIFT DISCOVERED
Marilyn didn’t realize her natural gift for writing until she turned 40. Always a lover of English classes and creative expression, she honed her skills through correspondence courses at the Institute of Children’s Literature. Eventually, she found her niche in writing for adults and young adults.
Since 2009, Marilyn has authored three Christian fiction books:

"What I love most about writing," Marilyn shares, "is the freedom to be creative and let the story write itself. I listen to my characters and give them a voice, allowing them to shape the narrative. Writing gives me control and limitless creativity. I strive to create relatable stories that reflect real-life challenges, reminding readers that life isn’t a fairytale and not all stories end happily."

A LIFE OF SERVICE
Marilyn's journey extends beyond writing. As a veteran of the United States Army, she served as an Administrative Clerk for eight years, including three years stationed in Nuremberg, Germany. Her military experience taught her discipline, sacrifice, and teamwork, all of which shaped her into a resilient and purpose-driven individual.
In ministry, Marilyn has dedicated her life to serving others through various roles:
Children’s Ministry: Teaching children God’s Word, fostering their spiritual growth, and guiding them toward their purpose.
Veteran Ministry: Supporting fellow veterans, encouraging camaraderie, and advocating for their rights.
Outreach Ministry: Assisting women’s shelters and ministering to the homeless to remind them of God’s unwavering love.
Life Care Center Ministry: Providing comfort and companionship to residents, emphasizing God’s love and the importance of peace.
Mobile Food Ministry: Distributing food, clothes, and essential items to families in need.
Intercessory Prayer Ministry: Praying for others’ needs and interceding on their behalf, offering encouragement and spiritual guidance.
Prison Ministry: Teaching and preaching the gospel to incarcerated individuals, offering hope, and aiding their reintegration into society.
